The Different Types Of Black Rims Available For Your Automobile

It’s true – black tires and rims on a car definitely make that car stand out! But there are different shades of “black” available – such as flat, glossy and hyper. So, which one should you choose? Well, here’s a short summary of the three different shades, a few ideas of what type of car looks good with them, and some very general information on prices.

Glossy Black – A color that is very standout, shiny and sleek, this shade goes nicely on just about any vehicle – as long as the paint job is nice. While this is definitely for the guy who is into making his car “showy”, he would do best to stay away from it if he just wants to “hide” in with the general population.

You could put glossy black chrome rims on a newer hybrid car, and this would make it appear a bit sportier than what was normally intended. In fact, these rims with bright red or yellow paint job, would definitely give your car that sleek new “toy car” look. Another type of automobile that would look great with these color rims is any two-door sedan model, especially if it’s painted silver.

Not an inexpensive rim, by any means. New, they start off at around five hundred dollars a set, and just keeping going up in price from there – depending upon the make and size you need of course.

Flat Black – Here you have a shade with no “emotion” whatsoever in its make up. It’s a color that’s definitely understated, and some might even say dull. It is usually found on those military vehicles that are never welcome in the driveway – unless the driver is lost and only pulled up to ask for directions.

Besides military vehicles, flat black rims are sometimes seen on those cars that used to be family vehicles, but have somehow been transformed into bonafide serious race cars. It’s not unusual to have to look twice when you come across a small, bland former commuter vehicle that has been painted a serious dark purple, and paired with a set of these wheels, as at first, it’s common not to recognize it for what it is, until you take a closer look. You too, can have this for your car at prices starting around $200 per set for the basic breed, all the way to a couple thousand dollars – depending on what size and brand you want.

“Hyper” Black – This color isn’t actually black, but it’s more of a silver-chrome in which another color – with the tiniest shade of dark – has been made to peer through. This is actually a very classy look for a rim – and it will make a car look more expensive, as well. You call easily jazz up one of those “gangster car replica” types, and it will look very sleek. Sometimes you can find the very bare bones stock rims in this shade, for about two hundred per set, and of course, they go up from there.

And, in your search for black car wheels, don’t forget about the auction houses! However, if this is still too pricey for you, there’s always a way to find rims even cheaper by checking out the many “gently” used sets that are for sale.
