Success Secrets of Hybrid Cars

When the first car was invented, the major focus was given towards the functionality of vehicle instead of considering its environmental impact such as, fuel-effectiveness. Ignoring the environmental impact is no longer ignorable nowadays. Today, the world has become a much different place than it was in the 18th century.

If you evaluate the evolution of cars, you will find it very interesting. The engine of very first car was based on steam. After a few years, developments were made by replacing the steam engine with electric motors and storage batteries. The first hybrid car was a German car, Porsche. Porsche was built with an internal combustion engine to spin generator. The generator works by providing power to the electric motors which were placed in the hubs of wheels. This first hybrid car could travel on battery alone up to 40 miles.

Invention by Porsche laid down the basics of the hybrid cars of today that depend upon two kinds of engines for propulsion power: gasoline and electric engines, or diesel and electric engines.

Hybrid cars, if at one end, provide fuel-efficiency, at the other end, they have drawbacks. The major problem caused by gasoline or diesel engine cars is the environmental deterioration. The maximum power per pound can be only achieved from fossil fuels; however, they are not being used because of their slacking reserves and continuously increasing prices. On the other hand, the electric cars are environmental friendly and they do not produce pollutants; however, they require a lot of time to recharge and their performance is not really high.

What made hybrid cars such a success is the fact that it combines the strengths of both kinds of engines. It produces less pollution as compared to gasoline/diesel cars. It is more cost effective, and gives better performance than the electric cars. The components of a typical hybrid car are: ? Fuel tank for the gasoline engine; ? A small but efficient gasoline engine; ? An electric motor/generator; ? A set of batteries that act like a fuel tank of an electric engine; ? Transmission system, which turns the wheels.

There are two types of hybrid cars: parallel and series. A parallel hybrid car can use either the gasoline engine or the electric motor to turn the transmission; while in a series hybrid car, only the electric motor can generate transmission to the wheels. The gasoline engine is used to charge the batteries of the electric motor only.

Hybrid cars are available in parallel and series versions. The parallel version of hybrid car can use the gasoline engine or electric motors for transmission. The series version of hybrid cars only uses the electric motors which produce transmission to the wheels. The purpose of gasoline engine is to charge the batteries of the electric motors.

There are various features which make hybrid cars a success including, its efficiency being a small car, and efficient engine. This car also features regenerative breaking that makes the electric motor to perform as a generator. Whenever the engine slows down, the batteries are charged. Hybrid cars also save the fuel consumption, and the advanced aerodynamics reduces the drag co-efficient and LLR tiers. Moreover, the light weight minerals decrease the overall weight of the car. Hybrid cars protect our environment and hence, are also known as green cars. The advanced technology installed in this car makes it a highly-designed car for future that fulfils the needs of consumers.
