Lodi Honda: Gain About The Secret To Success
It started with the Honda Cub and by’64 the company was the biggest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. A mini pickup truck, called the T360 was Honda’s first automobile. Shortly thereafter came the S500 sports car. The company being discussed here is the Honda Motor Company. This would eventually lead to dealerships worldwide such as Lodi Honda.
Honda Motor Company was created by Soichiro Honda who had developed a curiosity in vehicles at an early age. Honda was a self educated man who eventually put himself through college by using his wife’s jewelry as collateral. After entering into a contract with Toyota, a factory was built to manufacture pistons. Unfortunately an earthquake destroyed it.
Honda caught the interest of the public during World War II with his motorized bike that he developed as a result of fuel shortages. He developed this as a solution to not being able to drive his car. As a result, he developed the Honda Technical Research Institute for developing the 2 cycle motors. Profits from this venture were enough to develop Honda’s first motorcycle the Honda Cub.
Honda expanded during the’60s to sell their inventory in the United States. Honda’s entry into competitive motorcycle markets throughout the world has been the topic of some debate. Several explanations have been offered to explain Honda’s strategy and how they succeeded.
In’75, a group was ordered to explain how Honda had outdone the British motorcycle trade industry. It was reported that Honda had made enough bikes to cover a wide variety of economic scales. The British trade industry was blamed for not investing enough to do the same thing.
In’84, another explanation was offered. It was discovered that Honda’s entry into the US market was a success due to their ability to work and adapt. At first, Honda had planned to enter the US market to compete with large motorcycles. Employees in San Francisco, who were using scooters to get around, found the scooters to be attention grabbers. It was then that they came up with the idea of the Supercub.
Honda’s beginnings in the United States are still used for teaching strategy at business schools across the world.
The accomplishments of the company also envelop the first luxury car and motorcycle with airbags as well as the first midsized pickup with an independent rear suspension.
The Honda Corporation understands that different areas of the world have different needs. As a result, cars are available in some countries that cannot be found in others. The Acura TL and the Ridgeline are some examples. As part of the line available worldwide, the CR-V, S2000, Insight, Civic, Accord and Fit are included.
Due to economic crisis that hit the United States in 2008, Honda’s sales actually increased. A weak economy and high fuel prices drove their sales higher. The Detroit Big Three and Toyota did not fare as well reporting losses in the double digits. Last year alone, Honda’s sales increased approximately twenty percent.
