2009 Honda Fit – Welcome Additions
2001 wasn’t all that long ago but blast forward to current times and you can see how far the Honda Fit has come. The 2009 Honda Fit is unique in its own right and for very good reason. Sometimes listed as the Honda Jazz in other parts of the world, Honda has named it the Fit in China, Japan and America. It is an innovative model that is part of Honda’s Global Small Car Platform and because of this is classified as a subcompact.
This entry-level model has one of the highest fuel economy ratings available on the automobile market today. It is in its second generation and no where near the finish line. The 2009 model has seen a full makeover and people have taken notice.
In 2008, we obsessively talked about the upcoming years model, wondering what Honda would unveil for the year to come. Our patience and waiting were not took in stride and Honda delivered one of the greenest and most talked about cars it has manufactured to date. Proof is in the percentage of searched online for this specific model.
Expanded interior room, powerful handling and an even more powerful engine then ever before are just a few of the new features that can be found. This in return increased the Honda Fit’s length and width as compared to the previous years model.
The small back seat was given a bit of extra room while still keeping all the same tricks previous models had. One of the most popular being the ability to move the rear seat to create a cargo area.
Under that tiny hood you will find 1. 5 liter engine. The previous model also came standard with this same engine size, but 2009 saw a few changes. Among the most noticeable are the improvements to the iVTEC valve timing and the small increase in fuel efficiency. It is listed with an estimated 27 MPG fuel rating.
Anti lock brakes, airbags and head restraints are standard on the model, like most models on the market today, but one distinct option is the stability control system that can be requested with the Sport model. The navigation system comes packed with it however, another negative detail.
In closing, the 2009 Honda Fit appears to be an all in one package. Hopes of some added horsepower were disappointed this year but the future of the model is still looking bright. Those shopping for a smaller car with better gas mileage should do some research on this one, it is sure to be a perfect fit for almost any driver. At least go take a test drive to see just how sharp the handling is for yourself.
